I have been out here on the east coast for little over a month. Training out here has been an experience in itself...lol This is my second time training out in DC. For the most part the majority of my work outs consist indoors. I usually train at the sports complex located in Baltimore next door to where the Redskins play. It is kind of ironic that this is one of the places that I train at because I competed there back in 2004 as a senior in high school at the Nike indoor nationals, where I won my first major indoor championship title in the 200m. ( throwback pic of me in 04 in that race) It was like deja vu when I walked into the stadium a few weeks ago for practice. Some days I have jump rope work outs which may not sound too intimidating at first , however they are a lot harder than running workouts because you are forced to hold you form keeping your knees up working your hip flexors or else the rope will get caught between your legs. Another work out that I usually is do is running up the stadium steps at the Verizon Center were the Wizards play. When Im out in Los Angles I usually run the Coliseum steps , so the Verizon center is as close as I can get to simulating the Coliseum stadium steps. When the whether is tolerable , I usually bundle up and go on 30 to 45 min jogs on my light days. Or sometimes I run the hills in my neighborhood. Training has been going well. I admit that I do miss the warm weather back in LA however nothing is going to stop me from training...rain or shine. No matter what the circumstances , you have to stay dedicated and do what it takes to get where you want to go.
So what made you leave the West Coast to train in D.C.? I know its freeeezing...I'm on my way out there for the inauguration. Gotta get some thermos! :) Well, good luck out there.
